How Treat Stretch Marks

Standard

Extreme stretching of the skin causes stretch marks, which can be there for keeps or may reduce or disappear over time if skin care is regular and other options for removal are considered. Stretch marks are deep scars, or scar tissue, that appears as stripes on the surface of the skin though they go deeper at times. Common locations for stretch marks are regions like the stomach, legs, buttocks and breasts, but they can appear nearly anywhere on the body.

Causes of Stretch Marks

Extreme stretching of skin can be linked with various causes that prevent the skin from returning to its original condition. Some of these include gaining large amounts of weight in a short period of time and people most prone to this are bodybuilders, pregnant women and adolescents who go through rapid growth spurts and thus develop stretch marks.

Prevention of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are actually very tiny skin fibers that get torn as a result of extreme stretching beyond the skin’s immediate elasticity extent and though there is no known remedy to fully repair these fibers, there are many products and treatments available that can help lighten stretch marks and improve the look of the skin.

Treatment of Stretch Marks:

  • The course of treatment of stretch marks depends largely on the severity and location of the scar tissue and one widely acceptable practice in the removal of stretch marks is Exfoliation. Exfoliation involves removing top layers of dead skin and unveiling soft, fresh skin. This helps minimize the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Some great natural exfoliators from the kitchen shelf are oatmeal or baking soda to make your own preparations. Nature stores provide organically grown varieties of these and other exfoliating products too that are either scented or unscented, depending on your personal choice.
  • Post exfoliation, do remember to hydrate the skin by drinking lots of water and fresh un-sweetened juices to replenish the moisture lost and keep the skin nourished with general application of a deep-penetrating moisturizing cream or lotion. Baby oil, olive or vitamin E oil are good bets for intense moisturizer while some people swear by the benefits of coconut oil too.
  • If stretch marks are new, use of such oils and creams containing jojoba extracts, aloe vera, vitamin E and cocoa butter/shea butter is helpful in reducing their appearance over regular applications over a period of time.
  • A temporary solution would involve applied corrective makeup that has a natural base so it does not irritate the skin and minimize the appearance of stretch marks too.
  • Persons having used Vicks Vapor Rub claim it stuff works wonders on stretch marks and recommend rubbing some onto a clean cloth then using that to gently massage on the region of the stretch marks in a painless and easy manner.

Applying Makeup – Step By Step

Standard

Makeup trends change over the years, but the key to always looking your best lies in possessing knowledge of the winning combination of the correct make-up products, tools and professional techniques. Once you have gained this knowledge and mastered the various techniques, you will always be able to adapt your makeup look to being fashionable, whilst at the same time enhancing your particular features and making the most of your unique looks.

Sequence of makeup.

1. Cleansing. Apply cleansing cream or milk dots on the forehead, cheeks, eyes, nose, chin and neck. It should be spread over the face in upward circular strokes, so that all the facial features are cleansed thoroughly. Wipe off the cleanser lotion with moist cotton pad dipped in water. To ensure proper cleaning of the face, the cleansing routine can be repeated a second time.

2. Eye shaping. Once the face is cleansed check the eyebrow arch. Any growth of stray hair should be removed to give a clean look to the face.

3. Freshen the skin. Skin should be cleansed once again with an astringent or a skin freshener. If the face is very dry, moisturizer should be applied with a cotton pad.

4. Application of foundation. Foundation is selected according to skin’s color and texture.

5. Powder application. Apply translucent powder after foundation evenly on the face. Excess powder should be dusted off with a soft brush or cosmetics puff.

6. Application of cheek color and blushers. Cream and stick cheek colors and check glimmers are to applied just after foundation to allow them to settle down before powdering the face. Cake powder blush-on is used after the powder. Cheek color is applied on the smiles. It should be blended towards the temples in smooth flowing strokes to give natural shading. The following guidelines can help to achieve best results:

  • Blusher or rouge color should be in harmony with lipstick color. It would be better if cheek colors are lighter than the color of the lipstick to enhance facial features.
  • Bright and dark cheek colors should be avoided because these give an artificial look to the face.
  • Use pale and light cheek colors during day time.
  • For evenings, weave in additional cheek colors to accentuate the features because artificial light drains cosmetic colors.
  • Younger people may apply cheek color to highlight the angular contour of the face.
  • For mature women, upper cheeks towards the temples can be developed with cheek colors to give prominence to the eyes.

7. Application of eye shadow. Tips on applying eye shadow.

Use 3 colors of eye shadow. You can use more but it is not going to make any big improvement.

Dark: This is applied only to the eyelids from the lashline to the crease in the eyelid.

Medium: This is applied from just below the eyelid crease to the browbone. You can, and some techniques do, shade the entire lid with this medium shade first.

Highlight: This is the lightest of the three and is applied to the browbone and extends a little past the outer end of the eyebrow. This usually gives a pearly finish.

3 Steps for eye shadow application

Step-1. Apply the medium shadow first. Refer to medium described above. Note: When applying any makeup, make sure all edges are feathered so the colors just fade away gradually. You do not want any distinct lines showing where a color starts or stops. Use brushes for all the powdery makeup applications. Those little foam things that come with most make up just don’t seem to give the feel and control that a good brush does.

Step-2. Apply the dark shade to the eye lid area. It is best to start in the middle of the eye lid and work out towards the outside, cover the entire lid. Blend the crease area in well. If you have a thin eye shadow brush you might want to try darkening the crease area with a little more dark shadow, just along the crease though……gives a different type of effect.

Step-3. Apply first coat of highlighter to brow bone. There are many other techniques of applying eyeshadow. You may want to research other techniques, as some techniques are better suited for certain facial characteristics.

8. Apply brow pencil. Brush eyebrows according to the face structure. Any, gaps in the eyebrows should be filled in by light feathery strokes of black and brown eyebrow pencils to achieve a natural look.
Colored eyebrow pencil can also be used for a more glamorous appearance. A fine-tipped eyebrow pencil is a must to emphasis the shape of eyebrows.

9. Application of eyeliner. Tips on applying eyeliner

Position your lining device. Hold the lining device as you do a pen or pencil. Turn your hand so the applicator tip is parallel to your eyelid. If you are in the beginning stages of makeup application, do not use liquid eyeliner. It can get you real upset. It’s tricky.try it later on after you get the hang of things a little. Instead start with an eyeliner pencil.

Step-1. Using an eyeliner pencil, run the pencil above the upper eyelid lashes right close to the lash line. At first it is best to only line directly above where the lashes are growing, do not extend your line too close to the inner corner of the eye, it might not look right. You can play with extending the liner line later when you feel a little more comfortable with eye makeup.

Step-2. When you have finished lining, lightly smudge the line you just drew. Mostly pencils have a foam rubber smudger on one end. Smudging softens some of the harshness the line may have, in other words, blend the line in a little so it dosen’t look like a distinct line. A Q-tip works just as well.

Step-3. After you line and smudge, use a small pointy brush and run a coat of the dark eye shadow over the eyeliner. Do this if the line looks like it stands out too much, it softens it and is a “must do” step for liquid liner.

10. Mascara application. Basic rules of applying mascara.

There are a couple of ways to apply mascara to the upper lashes. The first way is to apply mascara to all of the upper lashes from one corner of the eye to the other, but sometimes this method may look too strong. An alternative and the method that we prefer is to just coat the outer two-thirds of the upper lashes.

Step-1. Use black-brown mascara and a curved brush. You can control the application better using the curvy part of the brush tip and the brush tip will always stay away from the eye socket area that we just finished applying shadow to. Apply mascara 2 or 3 times throughout the makeup session, letting each coat dry before applying the next coat.

Step-2. This first coat of mascara is a light coat. Pull the mascara wand from the tube and lightly wipe the wand across a tissue to remove some of the excess mascara. Now either throw that tissue out or put it at a distance from your work area. Also check your fingers for stray mascara. Mascara can be really messy and can cause you a lot of aggravation, so know where every little bit is at all times!

Step-3. There are several methods regarding how much mascara each lash receives. This is the vertical application, from lash root to lash tip. One method coats the entire lash from root to tip. Sometimes this method may not be desirable. Another method is to not start the wand right at the lash roots, but start about a quarter of the way up from the lash roots and mascara to the tips. The method which you should prefferably use, should coat the full length of each lash hair. With this method you want to start at the lash roots and as the lash brush travels up the lash hairs you want to kinda wiggle the brush back and forth just a little. The wiggling gets the mascara fully around each hair.

Step-4. Right after the first coat of mascara is applied, put the wand back into the mascara tube, pick up a lash comb or an old cleaned off mascara wand and run the bristles carefully through the still wet lashes. This will separate them nicely. You will probably need to do this more than once to get the hair separated

11. Application of lipsticks. Applying lipstick gives a finishing touch to a look by defining the mouth and adding color to the face. No cosmetic has to power to transform like long lasting lipsticks. You can transform your look in any way you like simple by changing your lipstick color.

Standard

Olive oil is more than just your typical salad dressing. It’s an ancient, well kept beauty secret. Some of today’s most popular beauty products, promoted as “natural” solutions, contain olive oil as a key ingredient in their formulas. There are a number of simple and inexpensive ways to get the best skin care and beauty benefits out of a small amount of olive oil.

How to Use Olive Oil on Hair

The best and cheapest way to use olive oil on hair, colored or not, is by making a conditioner with it. Olive oil nourishes, conditions and improves the strength and elasticity of the hair. The steps are easy, the process is simple, and the benefits are rewarding.

* Pour ½ cup (1 cup for extra long hair) of olive oil into a bowl and warm it on the stove. It is important for the oil not to be hot. Just a tad over room temperature is ideal. Also, try not to microwave the oil because microwaving damages its molecules.

* Place a towel over the shoulders to protect clothing

* Put a small amount of olive oil in the palm and massage it into dry hair. If you have a dry scalp, massage a small amount into the scalp, as well. If the hair is oily, massage it into the hair, but stay at least ½ inch from the scalp. Repeat the process of massaging small amounts at a time into the hair until the hair is entirely covered with olive oil.

* Place the hair loosely on head and cover it with a plastic shower cap

* Relax for at least 30 minutes while the olive oil is treating the hair

* Shampoo the olive oil out of the hair with a mild shampoo. Give a light condition with usual conditioner and rinse it out completely.

This natural and easy olive oil treatment will result in healthier, softer and more manageable shiny hair. When used on hair and scalp, olive oil can be considered to be two products at the same time: a deep conditioner and a dandruff controller.

Besides to being a natural, hypoallergenic way to moisturize skin, olive oil has the added advantage of providing strong antioxidants, like vitamin “A” and “E” that help repair and renew skin that has been damaged from overexposure to sun, air pollution and other environmental threats like cigarette smoke. Here are some ways to use olive oil on the skin.

Olive Oil as a Skin Moisturizer and Eye Makeup Remover

Whether applied to face or body, olive oil will penetrate deep into the skin and provide a long-lasting shield of moisture to keep the skin silky. Used either as a night cream or daily moisturizer, it is best applied to damp skin, because moisture can help reduce any feeling of greasiness.

Also, just a few drops of olive oil on a cotton pad is all it takes to gently and effectively remove eye makeup without irritating the delicate skin of the eye lids. What’s more, olive oil can soften the skin around the eyes and smoothen out wrinkles.

Exfoliation, Nail and Cuticle Care with Olive Oil

If the skin is dry and rough, mix olive oil and sea salt in a tub and massage it into the affected area to peel off dead skin and enrich the healthy layer beneath it. Use this mixture to smoothen extra dry areas such as elbows or heels.

For your nail and cuticles care, soak the nails in warm olive oil for 5-10 minutes. This strengthens nails while it softens cuticles. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the olive oil to get brilliant white and strong nails.

Olive oil can be used as a natural moisturizer for hair and skin. It’s a simple natural ingredient cheaper than the products one could buy in a beauty salon or a drugstore. Its benefits are visible and effective. Use it as a hair treatment conditioner, a skin moisturizer or an eye makeup remover and enjoy the results.

Disadvantages of Industrial Soaps

Standard

One of the biggest disadvantages of using industrial soaps is that these items are not specially created for people with special skin needs, and are not usually gentle.

Herbal soaps, cleansing soaps, and moisturizing soaps contain mixtures of vitamins, herbs, and natural substances that are specially formulated to promote skin health, while most industrial soaps are made in bulk and are generally safe to use.

If you want to change your skin care routine by using herbal soap or other natural products, you should definitely talk to your dermatologist before making the change to make sure that your skin will not have a negative reaction to this change. You may also want to try bathing with your natural soap first before applying it to your face.

If you are sensitive to the product and need to find something different to cleanse your face with then you may have to explore more. If you are buying herbal soap from your local health food store, you can ask the attendant which natural ingredients would be best for your skin, in order to make sure that you are happy with the product.

You have to be careful in selecting the soap. If you take the wrong one you may even suffer from skin diseases. Since the choices vary extremely from person to person depending on your skin its sensitiveness and other requirements you are advised to consult your dermatologist repeatedly, before taking any important decision.
